How a season is recorded

From the first visit to the final payment, each step is captured on the phone, at the field, when it happens.

1. Farmer onboarded in under a minute: Name, phone, village and crop interest on one screen. Duplicate farmers are flagged on the spot, and the terms are played as audio in the farmer's own language before consent is recorded.
2. Land mapped, not guessed: The plot boundary is drawn on a satellite map with its survey number. The app shows the measured area beside the claimed area.
3. Seed handed over with proof: Variety, parent line, lot and quantity are recorded with GPS. The farmer confirms with an OTP or a signature photo and gets an SMS receipt.
4. Crop photographed through the season: Field photos are stamped with time and location and attached to the contract and plot, stage by stage.
5. Harvest weighed and verified by lot: Weights, rates and quality are recorded against the lot, so seed issued and seed harvested reconcile on one record.
6. Payments with an honest status: Every request and payment is visible to the farmer, from pending to paid, with the reason when something is held.

Our own app and portal, built in-house and rolling out across our farmer network. Every plot, seed lot, field visit and payment is recorded where it happens.

Your field officer gets a login to the same screen we work on. If purity, progress or seed use is ever in question, you will not be asking us. You will be looking.

Security and data residency

Farmer data, handled with consent

Field photos with a location and a survey number identify a person, so we treat them as personal data under India's DPDP Act.

• Consent is recorded at onboarding, in the farmer's own language, against a versioned set of terms, with a timestamp.
• We never sell personal data. Identified records stay inside VPL.
• Anything shared outside is aggregated to village or grid level, with exact locations and IDs removed.
• A farmer can withdraw consent.
